"This that you all see" is the title of a series of paintings on which I have worked for a couple of years, capturing a very personal vision of the country I left behind some years ago and which, upon my return one day, revealed itself to me in an astonishingly new way, as if I were seeing it for the first time. In this vision, nature is lush, vast, green, very green, in all shades of green, with towering mountains like natural skyscrapers, mighty rivers, animals, rocks, and a climate as sweet as a mango. Back in Madison, settled back into my studio with my eyes and mind full of Colombia, there was only one option: to say something, to do something. And the way to translate that vision was to draw on a canvas, to blend colors, to suggest shapes, to put everything into paintings, and all of that, is this that you all see.
